Nippon Paper Treefarm Project Started in Australia

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

An agreement was finalized between Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.,and Mitsu & Co., to start the plantation of Eucalyptus tree with Primary Industries South Australia(PISA) in the Green Triangle region in south-west and western Victoria in the south east of Australia with the detail as mentioned below.
 
Project name : Green Triangle Treefarm Project
Areas : Green Triangle region in south western Victoria ,South-east of south Australia. The areas within 150 kilometers from Portland, Victoria.
Schedule : Plantation starts in 1997, Harvesting from 2007.
Acreage of plantation : 10,000 hectares. About 100,000 BDT chips annually to be shipped to Nippon Paper Industries exclusively. Shipment from Portland.
 
As the chip loading equipment at the deep- sea port in Portland is presently being utilized for the shipments of radiata pine (softwood) chips by Nippon Paper and Mitsui, such port facilities will be advantage of the new project in terms of steady continuous supply of chips.
 
This project is the one of Nippon Paper's Tree Farm Initiative, and this one is No.5 following the others in Chile, West Australia, Victoria in Australia, and South Africa.
