Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Yoshio Haga) has been selected for "Ethibel EXCELLENCE"* that falls under the Ethibel Investment Register investment universe operated by Forum Ethibel, an organization headquartered in Belgium that promotes socially responsible investments (SRI).

This universe, which consists of corporations known for their high performance in corporate social responsibility (CSR), is continuously updated and monitored by Forum Ethibel. Regarding the selection, an evaluation is conducted in the respective areas of human rights, human resources, environment, business behavior, governance and community involvement, and the selection this time praises our initiatives in the areas.

A movement - centering on managing pension fund assets - to invest in companies that exhibit social excellence has been picking up steam in Europe and the United States. By being incorporated into a universe such as this one, we hope that our competitive edge as a corporation would be recognized by more investors. As for domestic SRI, we have been continuously incorporated in the "Morningstar Socially Responsible Investment Index".

Going forward, we will continue to contribute to develop a sustainable society by working on appropriate disclosures of our CSR initiatives and utilize external evaluations and suggestions via SRI indices and other measures as reference.
