Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Fumio Manoshiro) has obtained certification in the international food safety management system standard FSSC 22000 (*) for two production subsidiaries of Paper-Pak Division, Miki Paper-Pak Co., Ltd. (President: Yutaka Kaneko) and Ishioka Kako Co., Ltd. (President: Kazuhiko Sase).

These manufacturing subsidiaries of Liquid Packaging Carton had established original quality management systems, incorporating the HACCP concept based on ISO 9001 standard. They have also been moving forward with initiatives to obtain FSSC 22000 since FY2014 in an effort to address food safety-related requests in and outside of Japan. With the acquisition of certification by two manufacturing subsidiaries, these initiatives have now been completed at four companies, including Soka Paper-Pak Co., Ltd. and Egawa Paper-Pak Co., Ltd., which had previously obtained certification. Going forward, these companies will strengthen and promote initiatives for product safety so that customers can continue to use their liquid packaging cartons more safely and securely.

In its ongoing efforts for food defense, these companies are also working to prevent intentional contamination of their liquid packaging cartons by strengthening both its tangible and intangible countermeasures.

*FSSC 22000 is a globally acknowledged benchmark food safety standard established by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) that integrates the international food safety management system standard ISO 22000 with the ISO/TS 22002-4 standard, which is an extension of it. It incorporates requirements for food defense etc., for which interest is recently increasing, and promises higher-level standards of food safety management.
