Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Fumio Manoshiro) has additionally and simultaneously acquired two international forest certifications, FSC® (Note 1) and PEFC (Note 2) CoC certifications, for its beverage carton business sites including the headquarter, four sales offices and four production subsidiaries.

Our Group has the Environmental Charter, exercises ecological consideration in our corporate activities and has acquired CoC certifications for the main locations that make products such as printing paper and business communication paper. The recent acquisition of CoC certifications is aimed at clearly demonstrating that the beverage carton business division processes and distributes products that are primarily made from paper from properly managed forests.

After the acquisition of the certifications, from fiscal 2016 we will start adding the forest certification mark to our beverage cartons, which are products that are familiar to consumers.

As a comprehensive biomass company shaping the future with trees , we are satisfying the growing environmental needs in the market through the acquisition of forest certifications in an effort to continue offering eco-friendly products and reduce environmental loads.

An international nonprofit NGO, FSC issues forest certifications on a global scale. FSC was established in 1993 by environmental protection groups and forestry businesses, among other organizations. FSC is headquartered in Bonn, Germany.

(Note 2) PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)

PEFC is run by the PEFC Council, an international NGO. The Council was established in 1999 as an organization for mutually certifying the certification systems operated in European countries. Certification systems in countries like Canada and the United States are also affiliated with PEFC. PEFC is headquartered in Luxembourg.
