The Iwakuni Mill has decided to change its caustic soda production method. The former diaphragm method will be replaced by the ion membrane cell method, which will yield higher energy efficiency and contribute to cost reductions.

 

Summary of the replacement

 

The new equipment has a capacity of 31,200 tons per year.

The replacement will be completed in August 1999.
