Participating in the recycling of Paper cups for water supply at the Hokkaido Marathon 2022 and contributing to resource recycling

Nippon Paper Industries Co.,Ltd. (head office : Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo,President and Representative Director: Toru Nozawa, hereinafter referred to as"the Company”) will participate in the recycling of water supply paper cups used by runners during competitions at the Hokkaido Marathon 2022.
Water or sports drinks provided at water stations and runner support areas on the course are provided in paper cups and collected separately. the Company taking on the collected paper cups and using them as raw materials such ascontainerboardsbase, we will recycle resources and cooperate in the realization of the environmentally friendly marathon that the Hokkaido Marathon 2022 aims for.
Used paper cups are designated as contraindicated items in the classification of Waste Paper by the Waste Paper Recycling Promotion Center, and are usually incinerated as general waste. However, in response to the recent market demand forpaper cartons recycling,the Company aim to recycle used paper cartons, and this initiative will be carried out as part of an awareness-raising activity to deepen consumers' correct understanding of usedpaper cartonsrecycling.
