Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. The reality is that most of the usedpaper cartonsare not suitable for recycling due to technical points such as how to extract the pulp from the composite material of plastic glued to the paper, the treatment of the plastic remaining after the pulp is removed, and from the perspective of hygiene such as the contamination of food residues in the containers, and most of them are incinerated as general waste. However, in order to meet the recent market demand for the recycling of food and beveragepaper cartons,the Company have been working on the introduction of this equipment since September 2021.
Traditionally,the Companyhave been working on the recycling of usedpaper cartonsat the Sokamilland the Ashikagamill, mainly for the raw material use ofcontainerboards. This facility installed at the Fujimillwill be able to produce high-quality, high-white pulp. Taking advantage of this characteristic, we aim to use it as a papermaking raw material in a wide range of fields such as paper, paperboard, and household paper in the future.
In establishing a collection scheme for usedpaper cartons, it is essential to inform and raise awareness to consumers about the recycling of usedpaper cartons, as well as to secure collection and washing points, so it is very important to collaborate with business partners who build a recycling chain. the Company have been working with various partners to inform, raise awareness, and collect used food containers, starting with a demonstration experiment of voluntary collection of used foodpaper cartonsin Hamamatsu City in cooperation with Hamamatsu Green Wave Co., Ltd. and Eco Life Hamasatsu. With the operation of this facility, we will promote these activities even more actively.
