Signed an agreement with DINOS CORPORATION for catalog Waste Paper recycling.

~Establishing a 'closed-loop' system to promote domestic recycling of used catalog paper~

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Toru Nozawa; hereinafter "the Company") and DINOS CORPORATION (Head Office: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Yoichi Utsu; hereinafter "DINOS") concluded a contract for the sale and recycling of used paper on March 23, 2023 (Thursday), and commenced operations. This initiative aims to promote the domestic circulation of resources through the establishment of a "closed-loop" system for used catalog paper.

The Company has traditionally supplied catalog paper to DINOS. Under this new closed-loop scheme, the Company will procure used paper discharged from DINOS's designated locations via distributors. This used paper will be re-resourced at the Ishinomaki Mill, and catalog paper made from these recycled materials will then be supplied back to DINOS. Currently, used magazine paper, including catalogs, is sold to domestic paper manufacturers via the used paper market, with some also being exported overseas. Due to market trends, there is a risk of a shortage in the domestic supply of used paper in Japan. Through this scheme, the Company aims to expand the recycling loop and secure a long-term, stable supply of used paper, which is a crucial raw material for printing paper.

As a comprehensive biomass company that pioneers the future with wood, the Company is actively engaged in product recycling, having set "Promotion of Circular Resource Utilization" as a goal in the "NIPPON PAPER GROUP Environmental Targets 2030." The Company will continue to expand new recycling loops with customers who value the unique worth of "paper," working towards the realization of a sustainable circular society.
