Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (head office : Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo,President and Representative Director: Toru Nozawa, hereinafter referred to as"the Company”) has been "Used paper cartons recycling business in Hamamatsu City”received the Minister of the Environment Award at the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycling Promotion Meritorious Service Award in Reiwa 5.

This initiative is sponsored by Hamamatsu City, based on the environmental awareness facility "Ekohama”of the Hamamatsu City Western Cleaningmill, and collects used foodpaper cartonsthrough collection boxes installed in schools, private companies, financial institutions, etc. in Hamamatsu City that can cooperate with collection.the CompanymillIt is an effective use of resources by recycling it intocontainerboardsin factories. Normally, most of the paper used as food containers is polyethylene laminated on the surface of the paper and incinerated as general waste in view of food residue stains and odors.

This year's Eco Life Hamasatsu to the Company award is for the cooperation of Hamamatsupaper cartonscitizens andthe Company Waste Paper recycling technology to achieve resource circulation that takes advantage of the inherent recyclability of paper, raise the awareness of general consumers about recycling, reduce combustible waste, and reducewood resourcesIt was evaluated for its connection to CO₂ fixed propulsion.

This award is a system that was started in FY4 by the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Promotion Council (3R Promotion Council). The purpose of the project is to encourage activities by commending individuals and organizations that have taken the lead in the 3Rs and have achieved outstanding results through continuous activities, and to promote the formation of acirculation-oriented society.

The Company with this initiative in Hamamatsu City, we are working with various partners to spread the separate collection of usedpaper cartons and other items and expand the recycling business. Currently, we are recyclingcorrugated boxes, but in the future, we aim to promote resource recycling and reduce CO₂ emissions by expanding to horizontal recycling that recycles toilet paper and paper cartons to paper cartons.
