◆Background of introduction
Until now, Kyukamura Norikura Kogen used 100% pulp Papercups for the cold water service provided in the lobby and men's and women's changing rooms, and it was a problem that it was disposable.
Used foodpaper cartonsare defined by the Waste PaperRecycling Promotion Center from technical perspectives such as how to extract paper fibers from materials that have been compounded and waterproofed by pasting plastic to paper, treatment of plastic remaining after paper fibers are removed, and from the perspective of hygiene such as stains and odors of food residues adhering to the containers. Waste PaperIt is designated as a contraindicated item in the classification and is currently incinerated as general garbage.
In order to solve this problem, Nippon Paper Industries has used the recycling technology it has cultivated over many years to separate the plastic and paper that are glued to the surface of the paper cup into their respective materials, and refined the technology to extract recycled paper fibers to achieve recycling.
Based on the cooperation between the two companies, after submitting samples of paper cups and confirming with the local government, the paper cups used by Kyukamura Norikura Kogen in the cold water service were properly sorted and collected, and recycling was made possible by using a system built by NP Trading, a member of NIPPON PAPER GROUP, that can be collected even in small lots.
In the future, we will also consider upcycling initiatives such asPapercups and eco-bags, aiming to promote resource recycling and reduceCO2 emissions.
