[Artist's Introduction]

■January~April Yuki Koyano (painter)

〈Painter introduction (1) Yuki Koyano〉

Yuki Koyano is one of the most notable young Japanese painters today. Mr. Koyano's representative works include 《Wind God and Thunder God Diagram》 , which is famous for Sotatsu Tawaraya, and Katsushika Hokusai's woodblock prints 《Thirty-six views of Mt. Fuji Behind the Kanagawa Coast》 and other historical master pieces are reinterpreted from a modern perspective and expression. And he is creating a new world of pop Japanese painting.

In terms of activities, I have been actively holding solo and group exhibitions since I was a student. There have been many collaborations with companies, such as Toshimaya, which is famous for pigeon sablés since he was a student, and providing original drawings for the art train of the Tobu Tojo Line, and there are more opportunities to see Mr. koyano's works in the city.

In Koyano's paintings, where various forms of communication are born, there are many small and cute characters such as girls with nihilistic gazes, animals, flowers, and humorous skulls. The characters, called "group portrait", appear as a large vortex and as a spiral or double spiral in the work called a group diagram. Koyano's works continue to change along with the ever-changing characters.

■May~August Anzu Kanie (drawing)

〈Painter introduction (2) Anzu Kanie〉

Anzu Kanie started painting when she could remember, and since then she has been painting every day. After graduating from Jiyu no Mori Academy, he studied printmaking in London. He is not bound only by the printmaking techniques he has learned, but maintains a lively and free expression. If you look at the work, you will notice that the petals, butterflies, and colorful birds dancing in the painting are collages pasted on the prints as paper cutouts. By hand-coloring the delicate line drawings made by prints and pasting paper cutouts on top of them, the depth is created on the screen and a fluffy charm is created.

I have also been active in art activities with children through painting. In the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, we began working to deliver picture books and art supplies to children in the affected areas, and the following year, we established a bookstore specializing in picture books "Children's Domonku Niji" in Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture. In addition, he is the coordinator of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Reconstruction Education Support Project, and is engaged in many activities to connect art with children across the country. In 2021, he won the Special Jury Prize at the'Award 2021 "The 7 Most Shining Groups of 2021 that will change Japan and the world" for all his activities so far."

■September~December Kanako Kinutani (painter)

〈Painter introduction (3) Kanako Kinutani〉

Kanako Kinutani had a father named Koji Kinutani, a leading Western painter in Japan, and her older brother, Kota, also grew up in an artistic family called a sculptor. He is a popular Japanese painter who actively exhibits at art fairs in Japan and abroad, attracting attention.

After completing graduate school, he studied abroad in London, where he came into contact with foreign cultures and came into contact with diversity, and began to draw a wider variety of animals than before. Kanako Kinutani's animal paintings are simple and dynamic, and the skillful composition of the screen gives a high sense of design.
At the same time, the expression is full of the author's unique strong personality. The expressions of the animals, which are drawn in detail with high technical skills, give off a somewhat human smell, and each animal has a strange sense of familiarity and humor.

Mr. Kinutani's gaze, which has depicted many animals, is also focused on the difficulties that animals have suffered due to changes in the natural environment and the whereabouts of the global environment, which is the cradle of life with its own unique charm.
