Nichiban Corporation (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo,President and Representative Director: Toshiaki Takatsu, hereinafter referred to as "Nichiban") and Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, President and Representative Director: Toru Nozawa, hereinafter referred to as "Nippon Paper Industries” In September, we launched a new initiative to enable the recycling ofrelease papergenerated during the manufacturing process of adhesive tape products.

release paperis used to protect the adhesive in the manufacturing process of adhesive products and the final product, and polyethylene laminated paper, which is difficult to recycle, may be used as the base paper, and it is undesirable for the adhesive remaining in the usedrelease paperto be mixed into the recycled raw materials. Waste PaperIt was considered a contraindicated product at the Regeneration Promotion Center*1. Therefore, most of the approximately 110,000tonnetons*2release paperproduced in Japan annually is discarded or heat-utilized. Therefore, Nichiban thoroughly separated adhesive andrelease paperat the manufacturing stage, and established a unique collection and transportation scheme in collaboration withNIPPON PAPER INDUSTRIES, which has the technology to separate and recycle polyethylene from polyethylene laminated paper, making it possible to recyclerelease paperinto recycled paper. Through this initiative, release paperis recycled ascontainerboards, and some of it is reused into corrugated cardboard for packaging Nichiban products. By converting waste into resources, Nichiban and Nippon Paper Industries will continue to work to reduce environmental burdenand make effective use of resources to realize a sustainable society. circulation-oriented society

Flow of collection and recycling of release paper(see flow diagram)

◆Nichiban manages that adhesive substances do not mix in when sorting therelease papergenerated in the manufacturing process.

◆ NP Trading Co., Ltd., a member of NIPPON PAPER GROUP, collects and transports the sortedrelease paperthrough a dedicated route, and collects, cuts, crushes, and packs it.

◆The baled release paper is brought to Nippon Paper Industries mill and recycled into container boards.

The Nichiban Group has set an environmental policy of reducing plastic emissions and improving the recycling rate, and since achieving zero emissions in 2012, it has maintained a system that recycles more than 99% of its waste, and is focusing on switching from thermal recycling to material recycling. We will continue to make efforts to realize a sustainablecirculation-oriented society.

NIPPON PAPER GROUP is actively engaged in product recycling as"a comprehensive biomass company shaping the future with trees", and has listed "Promoting the recycling of resources" in" NIPPON PAPER GROUP Environmental Targets 2030” . Paper "We will continue to expand the circle of recycling with our customers who value value because of this and work towards the realization of a sustainablecirculation-oriented society.
