Donation of biocomposite trays to the Tago no Ura Port Fisheries Cooperative cafeteria
~Contributing to the creation of a sustainable society in Fuji City~
Nippon Paper Industries Co.,Ltd.
In coperation with Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture and the Tagonoura Fisheries Cooperative, we will donate biocomposite trays to the Tagoura Port Fisheries Cooperative Cafeteria. In connection with this donation, a donation ceremony for biocomposite trays will be held on March 28th.
Biocomposites are a new material that replaces some petroleum-derived resins with biomass materials, and is expected to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Utilizing our unique cellulose powder manufacturing technology, we have jointly developed biocomposites with excellent strength, moldability, and recyclability with Mitsui Chemicals Corporation. Through its use in the cafeteria, we will proceed with demonstration tests for social implementation and verify resource circularity.
Fuji City was selected as "SDGs Future City" in 2020 and is actively working on the use of new materials derived from wood. The donation of biocomposite trays this time is part of Fuji City's SDGs project* and will contribute to the creation of a sustainable society in Fuji City.

The biocomposite tray will be used at the end of December, when the restaurant season ends, and if there is any damage, it will be collected to verify the resource circularity of material recycling. Through this initiative, we aim to explore the feasibility of biocomposites and establish a resource recycling model.
We will continue to work actively to realize a sustainable society in collaboration with local communities.
