Nippon Paper Industries Co.,Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Toru Nozawa, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is a joint venture between Tottori Prefecture, Tottori Prefecture Forestry Cooperative Association, Tottori Prefecture Forest Seedling Cooperative, and New Japan Sea Shimbun Co., Ltd., signed a joint declaration on the "Forest Resource Creation and Recycling in the New Era" efforts of the Today, a joint declaration ceremony was held at the Torigin Cultural Center (Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture), and the relevant parties gathered together to announce the purpose of the initiative.

Forests in Tottori Prefecture account for about 74% of the prefecture's land, of which about 55% are artificial forests. Many of these trees were planted after the war, and more than 60% of the artificial forests have already exceeded the typical logging season of 50 years, and the era has arrived to promote new forest development while making effective use of these abundant forest resources.

On the other hand, as the increase in abnormal weather and natural disasters caused by global warming has become more pronounced, it is urgent to take concrete measures to reduce CO2 emissions and absorb sources, and measures against hay fever, which has become a social problem, must also be promoted.

In light of this situation, this Joint Declaration sets the following goals and aims to "transform into sustainable recycling of forest resources." Under these circumstances, we believe that promoting appropriate clear-cutting and reforestation and expanding the use of domestically produced timber will contribute to solving various issues such as global warming countermeasures and securing resources that are not affected by international conditions, and will greatly contribute to the realization of a recycling-oriented society.
