Nippon Paper Industries Co.,Ltd. This agreement is based on the confirmation of the needs of the local community by Nirasaki City, and in the Ho-oh company-owned forest owned by the Company City, together with Lintech, which is focusing on addressing environmental Issues,biodiversity conservation and activities with the main purpose of promotion are carried out in collaboration with the three parties. The term of this agreement is set to expire for a maximum of 10 years (at the end of March 2036), and in FY2026, the first year, activities such as improving the environment of mountain trails and surveying vegetation around mountain huts are plan.
In addition, Nirasaki City announced today“Nirasaki City Nature Positive Declaration”and reiterated its stance on the conservation of the natural environmental conservation, and the Company and Lintec agree with this and will carry out collaborative activities.
the Company own approximately 90,000 hectares of company-owned forests in Japan, of which approximately 20% are classified and managed as environmental forest areas that do not produce wood and preserve environmental functions such as ecosystems and water source retention. The Ho-oh company-owned forest, which is the venue for the activities of this agreement, has a total area of approximately 1,400 hectares (about 300 Tokyo domes, about one-tenth of the area of Nirasaki City), and most of it is conserved as environmental forest areas. In 2023, it has also been registered and certified as“Nationally Certified Sustainably Managed Natural Sites”by the Ministry of the Environment to realize nature positivity.
