Press ReleasesCeremony Held in Hungary to Mark the Completion of New LiB CMC Factory
Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.
Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Toru Nozawa) has established a manufacturing and sales subsidiary (Nippon Paper Chemicals Europe Zrt.) in Hungary in September 2022, and has been constructing a new factory, in order to strengthen the supply chain for CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose, product name: SUNROSE MAC®), one of the anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LiB), which has a growing market for use in electric vehicles (EV) in Europe. This facility has now been completed and a completion ceremony attended by the relevant parties was held on May 13.
The market for EV LiB has been expanding in Europe, where strict CO2 emission regulations are being implemented. The automotive industry has been working to build a supply chain for EV within the region, with many industry players establishing their own facilities. We will be contributing to the decarbonization of society by building a supply chain for high-performing CMC for LiB, serving the global LiB and automotive manufacturers from the new facility in Hungary.
