Nippon Paper Industries wishes to extend its heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The Nippon Paper Industries Ishinomaki Mill (Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture), which suffered damage due to the disaster, is currently engaged in dedicated recovery efforts aimed at resuming Mill operation as soon as possible. With a sense of resolve towards recovery, Nippon Paper Industries has prepared a specially-made 15-meter-long carp streamer* bearing the messages, "Now we stand together! Ishinomaki" and "Power of Nippon." Starting today, the streamer was hoisted from the Mill chimney.

The Nippon Paper Industries Hokkaido Mill in Asahikawa (Asahikawa, Hokkaido Prefecture) hoists paper carps as a yearly tradition, and from April 22 this year has also put up a carp streamer hoping for recovery of the disaster-affected area. The streamer bears the hand-painted messages, "Let"s do our best, Japan" and "Let's do our best, Tohoku."
