InformationRevision to the Nippon Paper Group "Principles and Basic Policies Concerning Raw Materials Procurement"

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the "Company") has been promoting sustainable raw material procurement since it established its "Philosophy and Basic Policy Concerning Raw Materials Procurement" in 2005. In order to make this more effective in realizing the Group Mission, and implement a more effective response across the entire supply chain to social agenda, including respect for human rights and climate change issues, the Company revised its procurement policy effective September 1, 2022 as the Nippon Paper Group "Principles and Basic Policies Concerning Raw Materials Procurement". The revised procurement policy conforms to the "Nippon Paper Group Human Rights Policy" revised in May 2022. Moreover, "Wood Resources Procurement Guidelines" was newly established, under the procurement policy, for forest resources that form the core of the Group's business operation.

Prior to the revision of the procurement policy, Nippon Paper Group Raw Materials Committee reported on the subject matter to the Company's Board of Directors at a meeting held on June 29, 2022.

In line with the new procurement policy, the Group will prepare specific action plans, work to build a sustainable supply chain in cooperation with suppliers, and proactively continue dialogues with stakeholders.
