Jointly developed Paperyarn with antiviral, antibacterial, and deodorizing properties by three companies

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd., Tosco Co., Ltd., and Shima Seiki Co., Ltd. have jointly developed<Cu-TOP™Ao>paper yarn with antiviral, antibacterial, and deodorizing properties containing Nippon Paper Industries's modifiedcellulose<Cu-TOP™>.

Paper yarn is made by cutting JapanesePaperinto thin strips and twisting it into yarn, and has the characteristics of water absorption and quick drying, moisture absorption and release, and dry touch, and has been used in clothing and other products in Japan for a long time.<Cu-TOP™Ao>is a product that impartsPaperfunctions such as antiviral, antibacterial, and deodorizing to paper yarn with copper ions. Since it can be used in the same way as conventionalPaperyarn, it can be used in a variety of products such as equipment, bedding, interiors, and innerwear in the medical andcaregivingand sports fields.

At“The 20th Japan Yarn Fair”, which will be held in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture from February 16, 2023, samples using<Cu-TOP™Ao>will be exhibited for the first time at the booths of Shima Seiki Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Tosco.

Tosco:<Cu-TOP ™ Ao>manufacture and sales

Tosco is the world's only hemp manufacturer that consistently engages in the breeding and cultivation of hemp grass, from spinning to textile production. In addition to the conventional functions of environmentally friendly JapanesePaper, which is a dry-touch, comfortable material with excellent biodegradability, we have developed a next-generation sustainable high-performance material,<Cu-TOP™Ao>, which adds antiviral, antibacterial, and deodorizing properties.

Shima Seiki Manufacturing:<Cu-TOP ™ Ao>Utilization of Paper yarn on flat knitting machines, development and proposal of fabrics and products, etc.

In 2020, Shima Seiki Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has been involved in the research and development of yarns used to facilitate weaving with computerized flat knitting machines and whole garment flat knitting machines that are developed, manufactured, and sold in-house, and since 2020, as part of its in-house venture initiatives, it has started selling paper yarns using Waste paper from recycled milk cartons from its new sustainable material business,<®>, and has been involved in a variety of papers and threads in this effort.

This time, three companies,Nippon Paper Industries and Tosco, jointly brought their knowledge and took on the challenge of developing<Cu-TOP ™ Ao>.
