Notice Regarding the Impact of 2026 Kumamoto earthquake

We express our deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the Reiwa 8 (2026) Kumamoto Earthquake that occurred on July 28, 2026, and our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. We also extend our sincere thoughts to everyone affected by this disaster.

We provide the following update as of 2:00 PM on July 29, 2026, regarding the impact of this earthquake on our Yatsushiro Plant (Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture).

 

1.Status of Employee Safety Confirmation

Eleven individuals were trapped inside the plant building, and seven of them have been rescued to date. Of the seven rescued, two are in moderate condition, and, with the deepest regret, five fatalities have been confirmed. We are continuing to verify the safety of the remaining four individuals. The safety of all other personnel who reported to work yesterday (including those from partner companies) has been confirmed.

2. Operational and Damage Status

Operations at the Yatsushiro Plant have been suspended due to the earthquake. We are currently investigating the details of the damage.

3. Impact on Business Performance

We are currently assessing the impact of this incident on our business performance. We will make an announcement as soon as any matter requiring disclosure arises.

4. Other Information

To ensure the safety of our affected employees, provide necessary support, and grasp the accurate status of the damage through a company-wide effort, we established a Crisis Response Headquarters on July 28, headed by our President. We will continue to do our utmost in the search and rescue of the missing, while following the guidance of local government, fire, and police authorities.
