Press ReleasesNippon Paper Industries Builds Ishinomaki Jujo Shrine and Monument

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

The Ishinomaki Mill of Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture) has built a new Ishinomaki Jujo Shrine in the Chinkonnomori (forest for the repose of victims' souls), which is located in the premises of the Mill and was formerly the Green Road. The previous building of the Ishinomaki Jujo Shrine was washed away in the tsunami on March 11 of last year. A Senza-sai (a ceremony to commemorate the transfer of a Shinto shrine) was held today, preceding a ceremony for the resumption of the operation of paper machine N6. Those present at the ceremony wished from the bottom of their hearts that no natural disaster in the future would lead to a repeat of the sadness we have experienced since the great earthquake.

A monument for the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, including some people that were connected with our company, has also been constructed in the Chinkonnomori. Today, the Ishinomaki Jujo Shrine's Senza-sai was followed by a ceremony to unveil the monument. Everyone attending the ceremony prayed sincerely for the repose of the victims' souls.
