Press ReleasesNippon Paper Industries Receives WorldStar Award for Container for Yakult Nyusankin Soy α“Non-Aluminum FUJIPAK” Chilled Packaging that does not use Aluminum Foil

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.

Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Fumio Manoshiro), Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd. (President: Takashige Negishi; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo), and Shikoku Kakoki Co., Ltd. (President: Shigeru Ueda; Head Office: Itano-gun, Tokushima), have received the Beverage Packaging Award at the Japan Packaging Contest 2013*, the AsiaStar Award at the AsiaStar Contest 2013*, and the WorldStar Award at the WorldStar Competition 2014* for the container for Yakult Nyusankin Soy α. The WorldStar Competition is a competition held with the aim of developing and disseminating the most outstanding packaging and the technologies worldwide.

The container for Yakult Nyusankin Soy α, which won the award, is chilled packaging type (chilled distribution) of our Non-Aluminum FUJIPAK system. It is an environmentally friendly container that has achieved chilled distribution by utilizing a PET layer instead of an aluminum foil layer to impart the oxygen barrier property, and can be collected by using the same general routes as milk cartons. It also features a straw insertion hole that provides both a covering for the contents and easy straw insertion, developed in collaboration between Nippon Paper Industries and Yakult Honsha.

Nippon Paper Industries has conventionally sold the FUJIPAK system, which can be stored for long periods of time at room temperature, developed in collaboration with Shikoku Kakoki Co., Ltd., which utilizes highly advanced liquid filling technology. It then diversified the system from the perspective of environmental considerations, and in May of last year it launched the chilled type (chilled distribution) of Non-Aluminum FUJIPAK system that does not use aluminum foil. In addition, it has launched the shelf-stable (long-life) type in March of this year, which has been partially adopted for the Jujitsu-Yasai Series, a product of ITO EN (President: Daisuke Honjo; Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).

Nippon Paper Industries will continue to respond to a wide range of customer requests, including environmental considerations, through the sale of FUJIPAK and the Non-Aluminum FUJIPAK system, which can be used both at room temperature and chilled.
