Nippon Paper Industries, Co., Ltd.(President: Toru Nozawa; hereinafter "the Company") has been selected as an Ethibel PIONEER in addition to continuing to be selected as a member of the Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Register, the investment universe of Forum Ethibel, a Belgium-based socially responsible investment (SRI) organization, in May of this year.

The Ethibel Investment Register is an investment universe comprised of companies that have scored high on a multifaceted assessment of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance, selected based on ESG assessment data provided by VigeoEiris, a global ESG rating agency. The constituent companies are continuously updated and monitored by Forum Ethibel. The Ethibel PIONEER is a ranking that selects companies that have achieved particularly high scores. This is the first time that the Company has been selected as an Ethibel PIONEER, after having been selected as a member Ethibel EXCELLENCE since 2013.

As of May 2020, 113 global companies, 15 of which are Japanese, have been selected as Ethibel PIONEERS, while five global companies in the Forest Products & Paper sector have been selected as Ethibel PIONEERS and the Company is the only Japanese selection.
