Basic Stance
In order to continue to be a corporate group that is permanently needed by society, NIPPON PAPER GROUP has positioned its compliance as “Compliance goes beyond laws and regulations to include decency, common sense, customs, and other rules, and ‘social norms’ that are expected by society in general, and we are called upon to respond to the expectations and trust of society.” The Group continually carries out activities that raise employees’ awareness of compliance.
Promotion Structure
The Compliance Office within NIPPON PAPER INDUSTRIES Sustainability Transformation Division plays a central role in strengthening cooperation with the compliance managers of Group companies.
The status of compliance activities was regularly reported to the Board of Directorsof Directors, and the operational status of the internal whistleblower system and training results were reported. In addition, we regularly conduct compliance awareness surveys for all employees and reflect the results in our measures.
Whistleblower System (Remedial Measures)
The Group has established a internal whistleblower system at "NIPPON PAPER GROUP Helpline."
We can directly report and consult on any conduct that violate laws and regulations regarding human rights, corruption, environment and other areas, as well as corporate ethics, outside the everyday chain of command. The Company addition to the Group's internal contact point, which is the contact point of contact with our Compliance Office, we also have an external contact point for a lawyer's office and a company specializing in consultation reception. Reports and consultations are accepted through multiple channels such as telephone, email, and chat service, and the privacy of whistleblowers is protected as much as possible. In FY2024, there were 69 requests for consultation and reports, of which about 50% were related to harassment. To prevent harassment, we have strengthened e-learning and training for managers for all employees.
Employee Training and Education
The Group plan implements training programs to raise compliance awareness among all employees. In addition to basic training for each level, we update the theme every year to meet the Company's issues and social conditions, such as harassment prevention and information security measures, and provide education with a wide range of content.
