Utilization of Lignosulfonates
Lignosulfonates: Use as a binder utilizing their cohesive properties.

Lignosulfonates is a polymeric substance that has cohesive properties. In addition, Lignosulfonates also contain reducing sugars and sugar sulfonates, which also exhibit excellent cohesive properties due to their synergistic effects. Taking advantage of these properties, Lignosulfonates are used in many fields as binders.
Lignosulfonates as dispersants.
Lignosulfonates are polymeric electrolytes with functional groups such as sulfo groups, carboxy groups, and phenolic hydroxyl groups, and adsorb chemically or physically to various inorganic and organic particles. In addition, its strong hydrophilicity and negative charge maintain the particles in a stable dispersed state. Using these properties, Lignosulfonates are used as a dye dispersant and other dispersants.

Lignosulfonates as chelating materials.
Lignosulfonates and sugar derivatives have sulfo groups, carboxy groups, phenolic and alcoholic hydroxyl groups, etc., and exhibit chelating properties that trap polyvalent metal ions to form hydrophilic or hydrophobic complexes. Taking advantage of these chelating properties, Lignosulfonates are used as water treatment agents, boiler scale and corrosion inhibitors, and biostimulants for the purpose of improving trace element deficiencies.
Lignosulfonates as biostimulants.

Lignin is the substance that underlies soil humic substances. The Company sells lignin-based magnesium fertilizers that combine water-soluble magnesium with Lignosulfonates, utilizing these lignin characteristics. When this fertilizer is used, the combined effect of Lignosulfonates and water-soluble magnesium comprehensively improves soil physical, chemical, and biological properties. In addition, the fertilizer contains sugars derived from wood, which quickly activates soil microorganisms.
Use of Lignosulfonates as additives for lead‐acid batteries.

One of the Company's Lignosulfonates, "Vanillex", is added to the cathode plate paste of lead-acid batteries and shows its effect as an excellent anti-shrinkage agent. It also increases discharge capacity at low temperatures and decreases polarization at the cathode.
