Fuji Innovative Materials Research Laboratory
The Fuji Innovative Materials Research Laboratory conducts research and development on new biomass materials and their commercialization using demonstration facilities, as well as research and development related to paper and paperboard. We are promoting the development of technologies to expand the applications of Cellulose Nanofiber (CNF) "cellenpia™", which are highly nano- (miniaturized) wood fibers (pulp) obtained from the renewable resource "wood".In addition, we are focusing on the development of manufacturing technology and quality improvement technology by utilizing our demonstration production facilities for CNF-reinforced resin. In addition, we are developing applications for activated carbon fiber (ACF), which is produced by carbonizing wood fibers, by utilizing the adsorption function of harmful substances into pores at the nano level. We are also developing applications for inorganic and wood fiber composite "Minerpa™", which have functions such as deodorization, flame retardant, and X-ray shielding.In addition to these R&D, we own pilot coaters and offset printing machines for paper coating, and contribute to new product development and quality evaluation in the paper and paperboard business.
Cellulose Nanofiber
The Group has produced many industrial materials that utilize dissolving pulp, cellulose, lignin, and other wood components without waste through chemical products and functional materials. In addition, in order to open up new possibilities for wood resources, we are expanding the scope of applications from pulping technology to nanotechnology and chemical modification technology, and promoting the development of materials in the biochemical field, such as Cellulose Nanofiber (CNF), bioethanol, and bioplastics.
MinerPa™
MinerPa™ is a composite material composed of pulp and mineral, developed based on calcium carbonate formulation technology derived from paper manufacturing.
Coating/Printing Equipment
By combining the papermaking, coating, and processing technologies cultivated over many years, we have been pursuing the high quality and printability required for printing paper. We possess test coating equipment and printing machines that can simulate actual production conditions, and we are rapidly promoting reliable product development.
