Cellulose, CMC
Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a water-soluble polymer made from naturally derived cellulose, produced by treating cellulose with alkali, introducing a carboxymethyl group (etherification), and then undergoing processes such as purification, drying, and grinding. The resulting CMC has excellent thickening and water retention, and is an environmentally friendly material used in a wide range of fields such as food, cosmetics, and feed. The Research Laboratory is working on the creation of new products by developing technologies to control the rheological properties and gel structure of CMC.
Cellulose Powder Production Technology
Eco-friendly polymer material

CMC (carboxymethylcellulose) is an anionic water-soluble polymer obtained from cellulose as a raw material. It has excellent thickening, water absorption, and water retention properties, and is used in a wide range of applications as food additives, feed additives, cosmetics, thickeners, binders, water absorbents, and water retention agents. Because it is derived from natural cellulose, it is slowly biodegradable and can be incinerated and disposed of after use, making it an extremely environmentally friendly material.

CMC is often dissolved in water, and at that time, it takes on a variety of states, from those that behave close to water to those that produce a kind of gel. The Research Laboratory has established technologies to tailor the complex physical properties of CMC to customer needs, such as technology for uniform control of rheological properties and gel size, and is developing new products.
Powder material that is harmless to the human body

Cellulose powder is a powder made from highly refined wood cellulose in a unique way, which is used in a wide range of fields, including food, health food, cosmetics, filtration aids, and resin fillers. Natural cellulose is a type of dietary fiber that is harmless to the human body and has slow biodegradability. This makes cellulose powder an extremely environmentally friendly material.

The Research Laboratoryis working to expand the use ofcellulose powder through the establishment of powder properties control technology and advanced purification technology required by product features and applications.
