Heat-Sealable Paper
Drawing on the papermaking and coating technologies we have cultivated over many years, we developed LAMINA™, a heat-sealable paper that enables packaging using paper alone, without the need for lamination.
As a material that helps reduce the use of plastics, LAMINA™ is increasingly being adopted as a secondary packaging material for products such as food, cosmetics, and daily necessities where barrier properties are not required.

Heat-sealability added to paper, enabling paper-only packaging
LAMINA™ is a functional paper for packaging in which a heat-sealable coating is applied to a paper substrate. By selecting the appropriate base paper, coating formulation, and coating method, we impart various properties required for packaging, including heat-seal strength.
In general, when paper is used for packaging, a plastic film is laminated onto it to provide sealability. LAMINA™, however, imparts sealability to the paper itself, making it possible to package products without a lamination process involving plastic film. This helps simplify the manufacturing process.
In addition, replacing fossil-based plastic packaging with paper-based LAMINA™ reduces plastic consumption and helps lower environmental impact.
Product Lineup with Distinctive Features, Including More Environmentally Conscious LAMINA™ Grades
We offer a product lineup with different base papers so that users can select the most suitable option according to printability and required strength.
As a more environmentally conscious option, we have also developed a heat-sealable paper that uses Green Planet™, a biomass-derived biodegradable resin manufactured by Kaneka Corporation, as a coating material.

Notes:
- LAMINA™ does not provide gas barrier performance like SHIELDPLUS.
- For food packaging applications, recyclability can be improved when LAMINA™ is used for secondary packaging where there is no risk of contamination.
