In response to weakened demand in Japan owing to COVID-19, steep rises in the cost of raw materials and fuel such as coal and crude oil worldwide, and rises in labor costs due to logistics and worker shortages, we have been promoting extensive cost reductions across the company. However, at current price levels it is difficult for us to ensure sustainable revenue through our efforts alone. Furthermore, in order for us to be able to continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as part of our global warming countermeasures, we have recently determined that we have no choice but to revise our prices.
